Emfinger,  (August, 1972), page 8, Mr. Hyman Atchison served the church for a short time in 1942.  He was born in Maplesville, Alabama, on November 25, 1911.  His Parents were Mr. and Mrs. B.F. Atchison, Sr. of Maplesville.  Mr Atchison married Miss Lora Dean Chambers and to them were born four children, Hyman Jr., Gerald, Wayne and Randy.  Mr Atchison attended the Maplesville Schools and completed three years of Howard College Extension School. After being licensed to preach and ordained in 1941 by the Maplesville Baptist Church in the Chilton Association, Mr. Atchison served the following churches:  Sardis in Maplesville, Pleasant Grove in Lawley, Aldrich in Aldrich, Center Hill, Pleasant Grove No. 1, Macedonia, New Salem, Chestnut Creek, Bell Lane, Northside and Floyd, all in the Chilton-Unity Association, and the Millroads and Rushinquith in Elmore Association. Mr. Atchison is presently pastor of the Fifth Baptist Church of Clanton, Alabama, and also has a thirty minute radio ministry over Radio Station WKLF in Clanton.

David Hymon Atcheson will be held at the First Baptist Church in Clanton on Monday, Jan. 22, 2001 at 2 p.m. with Mr. Wayne Atcheson and Dr. Larry Michael officiating.  The family will receive friends at the Martin Funeral Home Chapel on Sunday, Jan. 21, 2001 from 3-6 p.m.  Born on Nov. 25, 1911 in the Macedonia community in the northern section of Chilton County, he was the son of the late Frank and Bevie Atcheson.  A Southern Baptist Minister for 64 years-serving in a wide variety of roles throughtout the county during that time-he died on Jan. 19, 2001 at the age of 89.  He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Lora Deen Atcheson; three sons, Gerald Atcheson and wife, Francine of Birmingham, Wayne Atcheson and wife, Barbara, of Tuscaloosa and Randy Atcheson and wife, Elizabeth, of Birmingham; a sister, Mattie Argo of Maplesville; two granddaughters; two grandsons and two great-grandsons.  He was preceded in death by his son, David Hymon Atcheson, JR., his parents and two brothers, A.G. Atcheson and B.F. Atcheson.

209.  "The Clanton Advertiser," page 2, June 19, 2001, Funeral services for Elbert Jackson Short, 83, Maplesville, will be held at Hillcrest Baptist Church on Tuesday, June 19, 2001, at 2 p.m. with Rev. Doug Powell, Rev. Billy Wyatt, and Rev. Matt Hawkins officiating. Burial will follow at Sardis Baptist Cemetery in Maplesville, with Martin Funeral Home directing.  Short was born on Jan. 14, 1918, in Chilton County, the son of the late James R. Short and the late Martha Frances Sansom.  He was a school bus driver.  He died on June 17, 2001, at Shelby Medical Center in Alabaster.  Survivors include his wife, Willie Margaret Short, Maplesville; three sons, Bobby (Pat) Short, Clanton, and J. D. Short and Rev. William (Cindy) Short, both of Maplesville; three daughters, Willie Burton, Maplesville, Debra (Keith) Sikes, Denver, Co., Janet (Tommy) Seales, Stanton; 14 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

Otey Crisman, Jr. officiating.  Burial followed at Plantersville Christian Cemetery, with Martin Funeral Home directing.  O'Neal was born on Jan. 2, 1906, in Chilton County, the son of the late William McDuffey O'Neal and the late Julia Young O'Neal.  He was in cattle farming.  He died on Jan. 17, 2002, in Bibb County Nursing Home in Centreville.  Survivors include his wife, Maudie O'Neal, Plantersville; one son, Bobby O'Neal, Stanton; one daughter, Judy Conaway, Peachtree City, Ga.; one sister, Mildred Von Schnittou, Maplesville; four grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
